Reporting

If I printed a story on Fallujah written by Oliver North, would you pay any attention to it? Why or why not?

Why is it impossible to think that an insurgency that has a proven record of killing Iraqi civilians in cold blood, including those attempting to flee Fallujah, might be responsible for some of these shootings?

This author has a political axe to grind that would give Paul Bunyan a hernia. Among many other stories he has put forth is that Americans are planting the IEDs themselves so they can "disarm" them in front of the Iraqis.

To such reporters, word of mouth is all they need. Never mind that the insurgency knows damn well what sells, and plays sympathetic reporters like violins. Did some bad things take place? No doubt about it. It's a war. But it's also true that if I were an Iraqi who simply came up to this reporter and claimed my entire family was killed in cold blood by the Marines, that he would write it down, and it would be all over the internet in two days.

The Left is comfortable with the military in only two aspects: sadistic monsters, or pathetic, poverty-stricken and ignorant dupes that are exploited and abused by politicians and sinister U.S. policies. Go back and look at the news stories. It's almost always either one or the other, isn't it?

The idea of heroes really bothers them, and you can see how hard the leftist press works to put feet of clay on any military person who even smacks of being heroic. You can see that in the recent news stories too.

Any idea that Fallujah might be a real military victory, removing a major source of the insurgency's capacity to kill, is like chewing tinfoil for them.
