And yes, the bitter satisfaction at every defeat oozes out of the pores of some people here. Do you read the posts? Maybe "happy" wasn't the right word, but they have invested a lot of themselves in the idea that the war in Iraq is unwinnable.

There is a world of difference between seeing it as unwinnable and actively rooting for defeat.

As for Vietnam, I was there on the campus, and watched the rejoicing at our retreat in person. It wasn't relief that our boys were coming home, or relief that it was over. It was sheer delight that imperialistic Amerikkka had taken one in the balls. Don't tell me what I saw.
