re: Spin

It's been obvious for a long time that this war is going to have to be won in spite of the opposition here at home. What else is new.

When Fallujah was being invaded in April, the Left was screaming about the civilians, the damage, and the horrible Americans wreaking carnage. We pulled out, and tried the "soft" approach.

The insurgency came in, took over the town, killed off or co-opted the Iraqis we left to run the place, and created Insurgent Central. Did you even see any of the photos that I posted earlier? The bomb factories, torture chambers, weapons caches, and the rest? Did you read the testimonies I posted from Iraqis living under the Falljah insurgency?

At this point, the very same Left began sneering about our impotence to stop the insurgents, gleefully pointing out Fallujah as an example of the insurgency thumbing their noses at us. This went on for months.

Now, when Fallujah has been taken with remarkably few civilian casualties, and the insurgents killed or driven out, we're back to the "carnage" playbook again.

Why don't you just admit that the only possible thing that could happen in Iraq that would make you and a few others here happy is our miserable defeat and withdrawal?

Did you dance with the others when the helicopters full of desperate refugees flew out of Vietnam? They partied in the streets at the university where I was. Hell, some of them had been partying since Nixon resigned. That would teach Amerikkka!
