Yes, I read 2 of Lovelock's books about Gaia. It's very interesting.
He also says Gaia was there long before mankind and will be there long after it's extinct. In a way, Gaia doesn't care about humans.
But if we wanted to culturally change Gaia, we probably could (instead of biologically). But that would be a huge responsability for mankind.
