Going To Mars Does Not Require Any More Than Going To The Moon

Starting from a far greater technological base and using in-situ resources which the data coming in suggest may be easier than even Zubrin imagined. It appears water is plentiful and relatively easy to reach. It's only going to cost an arm and a leg if you waste tens of billions trying to get to Mars from the Moon or get bogged down on the Moon for decades like we did in LEO.

Any space fan and most technically literate people should also know that threats to our survival exist on a scale far shorter than the lifespan of the sun. The eggs in more than one basket issue is legit, although I don't think any government should do more than blaze a trail and establish research bases. The "eccentric"/visionary billionaires should take it from there

Mark
