DFM refered to Palestinian elections as Bush's doing.
I said Arafat died, hence elections.
Tom said "I'll admit Bush lucked out in a couple of places. Arafat dying, for one"
You said "Luck comes from working hard"
So I said.......
Perhaps DFM meant that the outcome of the Palestinian elections was due to Bush (I don't believe he did mean it that way). They went for Abbas while that guy whose name escapes me serving life in Israeli jail didn't run.
I could be persuaded if I was in a good mood to credit Bush for Lebanon's soft rebellion and Syria's pull-out reaction in the wake of the former PM being blown up. I'll put it down to luck (and/or sheer bloody stupidity on the Syrian side) that the PM was blown up.
Unless both these events were the result of our hard work (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more)....
Hence my post back to you.
