seems at least as dense as anything ever said here. Syrians blow up opposition leaders with terror bombs. Syria provides safe haven to Iraqi Baathist and Hezbollah terrorists. We hunt them down and capture or kill them. Syria destabilizes Lebanon. We liberate Iraq.
The reason Lech and the rest of Eastern Europe's liberators could live and breathe is due in no small part to the fact that Reagan was in the WH. His support of the Pope, his call to 'take down the wall', his calling the USSR for what it was: an evil empire, gave hope and strength to those who hungered for freedom. To ignore that, even as some seen intent on ignoring the connection between our current policy in the ME and the moderation of Libya, the establishment of civil society in Afghanistan and Iraq, the liberalization in Saudi and Egypt, is to in effect keep one's eyes tightly shut to avoid having to admit the sun has risen.
