Chauvinist conservatives, an oxymoron, believe the world revolves around them. Every event is a reaction to some conservative action, with extremely limited input from anything else.
The Soviet Union would have collapsed if Mickey Mouse were President, as, indeed, he was in spirit. It would have collpased had Pat Robertson been President, or Noah Chomsky.
That economy wasn't sound, the country sustained massive damage during WWII. The repressive measures of the past, when communication was poorer and countries more isolated, weren't acceptable. It was a disparate Union, with many different nationalities, some of which had little in common with the others.
It would not have survived had PeeWee Herman been prez, though he would have done a better job. Your predicitons are an example of the conservative desire for victimhood as well as the belief they are the cause of everything good, and not responsible for anything which has negative consequences.
