thanks for the clarification. I guess what I am saying is this: If we had a policy of appeasement, the Syrians would not have felt any problem at all in crushing the Lebanese. Instead, they see us across the border, pushing Libya, pushing for real Pal reform, keping our word in Afghnistan etc. We make it more likely things will dome out well when we stand strong as we now are.
Did we go in and MAKE these things happen in Syria/Lebanon? I will be visiting with a Lebanese friend this afternoon, who is very well connected in Lebanon, and if the chance comes up, I will ask him to see his take.
