Link to thread: Images of Mars
Pyramids have long been identified on the Martian surface -- I think Sagan picked out a line of them in Mariner 9 images that caused something of a stir a generation ago -- and now we're able to identify them at almost every scale from centimeters to kilometers in size.
Of course (unlike Hoaglandites) I make no claim that these pyramids have been "constructed" like the ones in Egypt and Mexico. However, we shouldn't be too quick to dismiss them as artifacts of erosion. The fact that pyramids are formed by erosion on Mars at a very wide range of scales is telling us something important about the nature of some of the materials on the surface, about the conditions on Mars and the length of time those conditions have been maintained, and they give us clues to what we can expect in the future.
Besides, they're really cool!
Cheers,
Pyramids! Pyramids everywhere on Mars!
