Thanks, stranger, for the story, and for a new word: Necrogeography.
I thought it was along the lines of Monkey Face, which has a rather simian profile, view it driving north on I-25 between Colorado Springs and Denver, a favorite landmark o' mine, having almost died there once.
So now I am searching my memory for other such necrogeographic names. Of course there are a lot of Deadman Gulches, Creeks, etc. I seem to remember a Slaughterhouse Gulch somewhere...I'm sure I'll think of more.
