If there were affadavits, conflicting opinions, and unanswered questions in a death penalty case, would the same people clamoring for Terri's death be insisting on a new trial?
Define "the same people". Michael Schaivo?
Do you mean me? The woman has no cerebral cortex. This is a fact. It's not the same thing as conflicting witness statements, which are subjective.
Have you ever heard of a death penalty opponent declaring that there had been enough legal appeals, that the question of guilt was settled, and the execution should be carried out?
No, because death penalty opponents oppose the death penalty on principle, not on judging an individual to be more or less worthy.
Of course, the people on death row all have cerebral cortexes. Even the retarded ones.
Has any death penalty opponent conceded that death by injection is not "cruel and unusual," based on its painlessness?
No, because the prisoner is able to suffer mental anguish, using his cerebral cortex.
Do any death penalty opponents support Federal laws to override state death penalty laws?
Sure. That doesn't make it right.
What would a typical liberal say if they found out a person was putting down an unconscious dog by leaving it alone in a cage to starve to death? A cat? A rat? A lizard?
Define "typical liberal". I use mouse traps, and they don't always kill fast.
Was it a dog that had an intact dog brain? Then it would be capable of suffering, at the dog-awareness level. At this point, the lizard has more awareness than Terri Schaivo.
If someone came into Terri's room and shot her through the head, would it be murder? Manslaughter? Illegal discharge of a weapon? Why or why not?
Illegal discharge of a weapon, and reckless endangerment of the people in the hospice. Terri could more or less continue the way she is, except for the bleeding, because a bullet can't destroy something that isn't there. If someone stopped the bleeding, she could still be maintained as a breathing mannequin. Which is really what it's all about: maintaining the shell of a once-conscious, vibrant person in order to prove how much better it is to be breathing.
WWTD?
Preserve me from such mercy.
