I've used a cat that I brought to California from Australia to catch mice. He's sitting in my lap while I'm typing this. My cat (Pusslett) is 17 years old and now too elderly to catch mice. However when he was younger, he caught hundreds of mice (he was an incredibly efficient mouser). When we bought our first townhouse, it was near a dumpster and plagued with mice. Not for long!! Within a month, Pusslett had cleared them all out. Having Pusslett in Australia was a mixed experience. He brought some incredibly weird things into the house, e.g. a de-winged moth with a body 5 inches long and about an inch in diameter, a stick insect that was a foot long and could still fly, etc.
