I am not able to say what your experience really was about, Lindy's explanation makes sense though. It is not quite exactly what I was originally referring to, meaning a situation where the person really IS conscious, and aware of her/his surroundings, but somehow physically unable to communicate that fact in any measurable way.

Thanks however for sharing your experience, and hope you don't get any more scares.
