The Democrats were largely run by the Left long before the Cold War was over. I would say McGovern was the turning point, although the progress was uneven. And all through Reagan's administration, when the Cold War was rolling along just fine, thank you, the Democratic Party took the position of the Soviets/Sandinistas/you name it in almost every diplomatic conflict.
No, the Democrats didn't change their spots only after the Berlin Wall fell. It was long before that.
Now when the U.S. is in diplomatic conflict, or even real conflict, the Left is taking the side of the United Nations, the French, Europeans in general, the Palestinians, pretty much ANY nation that routinely craps on us, and, I'm sorry to say in too many cases, the insurgents in Iraq.
When Bowser can list a Democratic politician that is still actually alive in this context, let me know.
