Flame

Generalizations and the misbeliefs which can flow from them.

Law of the Left: In any conflict between America and its values and any other entity, you will take the opposing side.

"In the decades I have been aware enough of politics to be able to judge, I have never seen an exception to this from the organized Left, and damn few of them from individual leftists. Take it or leave it."

"Never". The man said "never", and that has shaped his attitudes. "Never".

Lessee - The President of either party could be counted as a member of the "organized" lefr or right, as I see it. Makes sense.

Admittedly before his time but should be known to yer average erudite Merkan, the Korean war was entered into by a Democratic President, the same President who recognized Israel.

The Korean War was negotiated to a standstill, a tie, by a Republican President. (Who knowingly left behind many POWS, both is Soviet and Chinese hands.)

The Vietnam War was escalated into a major America conflict by two Democratic Presidents, one of who also committed the US to the Moon, the other who used to start his speeches with the endearing "My fellow Merkans".

It was negotiated into a loss by a Republican President. (Who knowingly left behind many American POWS, in Laotian and North Vietnames hands.)

Whether or not any of those were wise courses to take isn't the point. The point is that narrow-mindedness leads to misconceptions leads to a skewed world view where your 'side' is by definition never wrong, can't lie, uses ugly means for justified ends, where the other people just hate the goodness represented by you.

Arf (Bow, you've let the weasel begin. I know, there's no accountability on the right. Used to be, not any more.)
