I didn't have a clue until very recently...

'Elsewhere' I mentioned that I had mapped the Garden of the Gods- he mentioned that he had led mapping projects of that formation and asked me for more info on when I had done it... at that point I had an inkling of a suspiscion- but dismissed it as WAY too improbable- it wasnt until I got his email that I knew the truth...

I asked you about JMS only because I had recieve an email from an unrecognize address and certain details led me, mistakenly, to think it was from jms... turned out to be a different poster on the HZ...

I would like to point out that had that summer course not been such an important time for me I would never have mentioned it in passing the numerous times that I have... and jms would not have been likely to make the connection... It is a testiment to his teaching that the class had such an impact on me...

Too bad that it appears he is going away for a couple of weeks, because there is a lot I would love to reminisce about and catch up on the ~18 years since that summer...

Jms said to me elsewhere, correctly, that you could write a few stories about that summer...

Man, a lot can happen in 18 years... this has triggered a full blown nostalgia attack!

I have a vivid memory of him standing on a gigantic outcrop above our remote desert campsite in the light of the moon and reciting something (he now claims it is the opening of 'Canterbury tales' in Old English) I remember how eerie that seemed.

He also was, bar none, the person primarily responsible for teaching us in the field...

He is a really cool guy...
