Tom,
I don't read blogs - from either the right or the left. They are too anecdotal, too unreliable, and too biased by the writer's opinions to take as serious sources of information. There's no accountibility within the blogiverse.
I don't doubt that there is good news from Iraq to talk about. But it is overwhelmed by the unrelenting chaos of suicide bombings, kidnappings and perpetual killings of American soldiers. It is the Palestinian/Israeli conflict a thousands times larger. And it is going to persist for years.
In the end, I have no doubt we will eventually stabilize the country, but at what price? How many years? How many lives? How many billions of dollars? Given the atrophied state of Iraq before March, 2003, this war was completely unnecessary.
The Bush administration has made a terrific mistake. It went to war upon a failed premise about weapons of mass destruction. It failed to plan for an intractable insurgency. It fails to level with the AMerican people about the true state of affairs.
In the meantime, you choose to live in the dreamworld of internet blogs that offer you a trance-induced sanctuary from the hard and terrible reality we created unnecessarily. Blogs are the new opiate of the people, whatever your politics may be.
