unfortunately, ALL international politics is very dirty and for all I know maybe there's something to this. I really can't say either way. However, historically, any Israeli 'land grab' has been due to 2 reasons - security needs, and settler fanaticism. These would both be helped a great deal by (as you say) a peace agreement, and the establishment of a non-threatening Palestinian state. I think Sharon's railroading of settler fanatics is a good step towards this (I know some people who would hate me for saying that, but there you go .. )
