re: hypnagogic dreams

Thanks for your dream notes, very interesting. Sounds like you had a very unusual nocturnal dreamworld as a kid. I've never been able to change my position in a dream, like entering the person whos' looking at you. But then again, I never tried it.

One night when I was a little girl (about age 7), I was awakened by a light in the room. I opened my eyes and their was Jesus standing there smiling at me. He was dressed in golden robes and the light in the room was emanating from him. His palms were open to me, and they had the stigmata on them. His heart was exposed and it had two bands of thorns around it. He also had a crown of thorns on his hand. His smile was beautiful, warm and all encompassing.

I sat up in bed and looked over at my brother, who was asleep on the other side of the room, but his back was turned to me and he wasn't moving. I remember pinching myself to see if I WAS awake. Then I touched the wall with my hand because the Light was on the wall.
When I looked back and he was STILL smiling at me, I cried out for my "Mommy!", who woke up and came running into our bedroom. As she opened the door, the image of Jesus left..............slowly.

I told her what happened. She eventually called a Catholic priest who came to visit us. None of us in the family went to church, but she thought maybe I needed some religious instruction. I ended up going to Sunday School, and I remember telling the class and the teacher about my experience. I also remember I got three gold stars on my prayer card that day.

I have looked back on this over the years. It was comforting (and HAS been all these years), but I do not go to church....only for weddings and funerals. But I have learned since then that oftentimes, religious figures appear to young children before stressful events.

And I had two that year. My Godfather (whom I dearly loved) was blown up in an underground mining accident in Quebec and I caught rheumatic fever which set me back. I couldn't play with the other kids or go to school for a couple of months.

And this is just one experience.
