spooky hypnagogic dreams

Lindsay described a religious dream that might have been hypnagogic. I've only had one hypnagogic dream with religious implications. My parents had dropped me off at university and it was the first night that I was "on my own" as a young adult. The family cat "Cicero" was in poor health and before leaving home, I said goodbye to him knowing that I'd probably never see him again. Cicero liked to sleep on me which was good for him but less desireable for me. Often times I could not sleep with him on me (he was a big cat) so I would have to get out of bed and carefully pickup Cicero (he was old and frail) and put him outside of the room. Anyway, I was by myself in this dorm room, first day away from home and I could feel Cicero jump up on my bed and curl up on top of me. He was purring away and thoroughly enjoying himself. In the mean time, I was cussing him because I couldn't sleep with him perched on top of me. So I got up, and could hear him jump down from my bed. Then it occurred to me that Cicero was 500 miles away and I had just experienced a hypnagogic dream. Anyway, you can guess the punch line: Cicero disappeared that night and was never seen again. It was almost certainly simple coincidence that I had that dream since I knew he was near the end of his life. Then again he might have been saying "goodbye".
