Shouldn't be

There's attitude and superior tone that I don't care for here, in the frequent group bashes on religion (and no, I am not religious) by the oh so intellectually superior scientific folk

Phil, you're the second person recently to describe a general hostility to religion on the HabitableZone. REB had a lot to say on the subject in the long thread on Intelligent Design on CE, and made an excellent case for peaceful coexistence between religion and science. REB was coming from a position as a believer, but you're right, you don't have to be religious to think that it's just not right to bash religion in general or to bash people simply for being religious.

It's not out of bounds for a scientifically-oriented community to fight back fiercely against Creationism and ID, because those things represent an attack by religion on science (sorry, I know that's just my opinion, but I've expressed it so loudly lately there's no use pretending I don't have a POV). It is not appropriate to blindly attack anyone who professes to religious faith; for one thing, that's simply intellectually dishonest. All bigotry is intellectually dishonest.

I know you said that you hope that this is the last time you have address this issue, but I don't want this issue to disappear and become a source of lingering resentment. There are quite a few people with varying degrees of religious belief around here; the Zone shouldn't be a hostile environment. So I encourage you to bring it up and push the issue. Probably Community's the place, because it's neutral territory, and in some ways this is a turf war. Yeah, best to meet over at my place.
