might not have to be

Yep, and failing to discriminate between the oxymoron of Creation "science", and all the other nonconfrontational beliefs is what leads to religious bigotry. Focusing just on the defense against the Creationist attacks on science, it's better to fight them with a scalpel than a meataxe. Opposition to Creationism can't be based on prejudice, it has to be true to science.

You had some other things to say in that post that I noted too. I'm inclined to pay attention when you say things like "the oh so intellectually superior scientific folk", and describe "attitude and superior tone". Not to mention when you talk about erasing your HZ bookmark; good way to pull the brake cord and get my attention.

You're right. I can see that phenomenon when you point it out to me. Should I go townhall? The religious bigotry part is fairly straightforward to address, but I know it's harder to deal with elitism. A certain amount of it's a natural consequence of trying to be a meritrocracy; the eggheads compete for intellectualist status points (well, OK, "us eggheads", mea culpa). But then it hardens into fixed status, which clogs up the plumbing from my point of view. How would you snake the pipes?
