So you're asking first, and explaining later?

Normally, when it comes to solving a problem, I'll try to solve it first, until it is beyond my skills, then ask for help.

However, there is the philosophy of "Do it, ask for forgiveness later". Example: a neighbor cut down a bunch of trees which was against the neighborhood covenants (trees on community property, but blocked his view). When confronted, he paid the fine, and laughed. He did what he wanted, could afford the fine, and the deed was done. Screw the neighborhood: he got what he wanted.

Asshole, in my opinion.
