Saddam Hussein should have been removed from power in 1990 after he invaded Kuwaiti. I am not sure of when we learned he mass murdered his own people with and without WMD, but he should have been removed from power after that discovery.
The UN should have taken him out, but they didn’t want to. Was Saddam lining their pockets at that time, or was it later he started bribing the UN. Regardless, the UN were not protecting the Iraq people. On top of that they left in power a madman with a know history of murdering thousands with WMD. Why was he still in power?
His invasion of Kuwaiti should have been enough reason for the UN to remove him. It would have been like letting Hitler stay in power after we beat him in WWII (had he not killed himself)
Anyway, the us finished the job we started in 1990. The UN failed the Iraqis. They took Saddam’s money, the very money he was supposed to be using to help the Iraqis, and turned a blind eye. Something had to be done, and the US did it.
But I could argue this with you until I was blue in the face, and you still wouldn’t change your mind, so what is the point.
