Iran was our ally back then, the Shaw was committed to rebuilding with the best equipment and tools, both for war and development.
So, don't fall victim to the hubris that "a quick, precise and overwhelming" air strike would be a given, The senior command is as well trained as we could do and would probably be formidable.
And, again I reiterate, military action is always an admission of political failure. We committed that failure in Iraq--I would hope we don't repeat that with the Persians.
