Their military is quite good, but they don't have the reach to tangle with Iran. In order to adequately deal with Iran's nuclear program, a massive and sustained air campaign would have to be mounted. We're talking on the order of the air war in Desert Storm. Weeks upon weeks of heavy nonstop bombing, hitting facilities all over that fairly large country.
The entire Iranian war machine would have to be brought to its knees. Their air defense system would have to be smashed, the air force driven from the skies, navy sunk, army forced to dig in and not move. E-8/E-9 Joint-STARS will be very effective in such a campaign, tracking any ground traffic in and out of the Iranian nuclear facilities and targeting it for immediate destruction. I'm afraid Israel just doesn't have the legs for such a campaign.
