I thought that question would be a non-starter. Another six paragraphs on the evils of the corporation.
When asked about where they would cut government, most liberals quickly pop out with "defense," but at that point they seize up like a gearbox full of sand.
Go ahead. Try it. Come up with a major non-defense area where you can say, "You know, I think we could do without the government doing this."
Sure. Break up Microsoft. You sure aren't the first person to come up with that idea, and God knows their competitors have pushed it often enough.
Put their different divisions in different companies, each with their own company bureaucracies. Have the government standing over them with the guns making damn sure they don't cooperate too much, or grow too much, or be too successful in grabbing market shares. How do you think the actual operations will go after that?
You know, forced decentralization sounds great. How about this one: flatten the power of the Federal government and give the power back to the states, for all the same reasons. Roads, welfare, environmental laws, you name it. The Feds are left with defense and a few other things.
Now, tell me why that's a bad idea.
