Assuming that we're dealing with a rational operator that's true.
Most people are rational operators. One hallmark of many leftists is the honest and even well-meaning belief that if people aren't tightly controlled they'll do all kinds of stupid things. The leftist almost never stops to wonder why he himself doesn't need this kind of control. Why the brainwashing never works on him. Or if he does, he simply assumes that his own superiority of intellect and perception is the reason.
One advantage to a decentralized economy is that when one farmer decides he's going to burn all his corn for Jesus, it doesn't affect too many other people. When the equivalent of the People's Commissioner for Agriculture comes up with a brain fart, you get things like the famine in Ukraine, or the depopulation of Cambodian cities.
"I'm not looking for libertarianism in America, but I'd sure like to stop creeping toward socialism."
I think we could use more of both actually.
Uhh...okay. Not sure I get that one.
