Now it's getting interesting

I knew if I tormented you long enough something useful would come of the conversation.

I've already admitted that I basically plucked the idea of a $100 million dollar revenue cap from my posterior. That was just a simplistic example of scaling consistent with metrics of government size like spending and employment.

But then you started talking about Federalism, a concept I heartily endorse, and you led me to the light, Tom.

To the same degree that Federal power is transferred to the state level, broken up and decentralized, limit the geographic scope of businesses. If you want the Feds completely out of the economy, then prohibit businesses from operating across state lines (not prohibiting interstate commerce, just prohibiting a business from operating in more than one state). Fair's fair: If you limit government power by chopping it into smaller geographic chunks, do exactly the same to the power of business.

We're definitely on the same wavelength here. To the same degree that we accomplish your goal of reducing the power of government that can be sold to business, my goal is to reduce business's buying power. Supply-and-demand need to be kept roughly in balance to avoid runaway political power inflation. Applying the principle of Federalism to the economy neatly fits the bill.

Not bad, Tom.
