Given the facts in evidence, it is impossible to come to any other conclusion other than that Casey Sheehan did not feel the same way about the war that his mother did.
Using pity as a political weapon doesn't impress me. There are many of Gold Star parents with different opinions from Sheehan who are ignored by the media. You don't see them in the news every day, and their travels aren't followed by an eager press entourage. Wonder why.
What she is doing in projecting her own politics onto her son's memory is no different than if Martin Luther King's heirs had decided to reshape his views into those of the Black Panthers, or Nancy Reagan had started telling about how her husband was really pro-communist. If that's respect for the dead, you can keep it.
