Funny. For almost a month, sixteen words out of an entire speech were stretched here and elsewhere until they became almost the entire reason we invaded Iraq.
Obviously, in terms of national security, the weapons and terror connections were uppermost. But the idea that is being spread around that Bush and the rest gave no thought to democracy in Iraq until later doesn't hold up. There are many sources showing that the idea of reducing the sources of terror by planting democracies in the Middle East was not something that showed up only after the war started.
