LOL!
Colin Powell went to the UN to press the case for war, and it was entirely about WMD. Why didn't he advocate forcible regime change to install a democracy?
Let's see...perhaps because the UN is composed of 70% thug-led nations that wouldn't want to set a precedent?
Add to that the fix was in at the UN - the French ambassadors inexplicable resistance & behavior now is SO clear - he was on Saddam's payroll.
You forget this stuff conveniently and act like Iraq was so great before? It's like you've let yourself be lobotomized by leftist thought.
WMD was a doorway that could mandate US action. If it was overhyped it was because we knew we were dealing with folks in bed with Saddam who were fighting tooth and nail to keep Saddam in power and the kickbacks and oil flowing to them.
The fix is in in all sorts of other UN activities. The UN is in with the French in other bloodthirsty tyrant propping business in Africa and are as we speak in bed, under the covers, with Iran.
Folks are dying daily in far greater numbers than in Iraq. Do you care a whit about any of these things?
Of course not. It's not on your radar. That's understandable.
You're still convinced that some neo-leftist "centrists" will emerge to calibrate politics to your liking, where the rich and the poor share power equally. With more poor folks than rich that would leave a disproportionate amount of power in the hands of the mostly poor and uneducated. That's not in anyone's best interests.
The GOP and the neo conservatives are the closest thing to the freedom-loving founders our nation has seen in a long while. Most of them actually believe in democracy in lieu of jaded self-interest and exploitation of the third world. They've either gotten over or never shared the juvenile "soak the rich" solution to global politics held by the poor or less worldly.
Folks like Condoleezza Rice are genuine heroes of the 21st century. Yep - hero. She's busting her behind to help make the world a better and safer place and all she gets for her troubles are snarky, racist comments about plantations and slaves.
She's helping shaping our new US-India relationship and opening doors to commerce, while realizing this nation is going to be a player in the 21st century.
The status quo in the Middle East, or Africa, is not in the world's best interests.
Robert, you should aspire to be a neo-conservative. Shake that old-world leftism off like the bad clinging disease it is and join those who are making the world free, opening doors to the poor and trying to put an end to mass-murder, slavery and genocide.
;-)
