That's not true

There are many, many secular Israelis who now strongly support the removal of most of the West Bank settlements, this obstacle to peace. Many surveys and polls in Israel show this fact.

Many of the first post-67 settlers had nationalistic, Zionist motivations, to fulfill the dream by living of the land of their ancestors, but increasingly the settler movement has become dominated by ultra religious Orthodox Jews who believe they have a divine right to repopulate "Judia and Samaria". Unlike those who moved to West Bank settlements for economic reasons, these religious Jews can't be easily persuaded (or monetarily incented) to be rational and reasonable and return to Israel. Face the fact - religious faith is often founded in irrational thought processes, and which are highly correlated with other manifestations of irrationality which cause great harm to everyone - like bloody wars.

Not of course to forget or overlook the greatest example of iarrational religious faith in the area - Hamas, that bunch of crazy Islamic terrorists who only lead the Palestinians towards more suffering.
