I finally got to watch "Alexander" tonight.
Rented Oliver Stone's epic DVD and followed myth into history and the dreams of a young man that put him on a bloody journey to conquer lands near and far. Always looking for that "something more".
We can see how a "great leader" can even get lost in his own vision, his madness, his desires and rarely look back. In todays modern world, I can see similarities with GWB's vision of bringing freedom and democracy to a savage nation. Vision is one thing. Reality is another. In "Alexander", it only served to weaken he and his men. Perhaps somebody should sit lil Georgie down and show him the movie. (Send Karl home first so he doesn't get any other ideas....ahem).
Or, shall we all sit down a watch a copy of Stanley Kubricks' 1964 "Dr. Strangelove", where we see Slim Pickens as Major "King" Kong riding the atomic bomb like a Texas cowboy back to earth......
Scary thoughts indeed.
