I actually enjoyed "Alexander", as I do all epics.
I know this movie was discussed here when it first appeared in theatres, but I missed that. (If anyone cares to bring up the old thread, please do.)
Oliver Stone is very talented, whether you agree with his perspective or not. There is certainly are few plots in the movies that leaves one wondering.
And some incredibly moving scenes. I'm still thinking about certain scenes from the movie long after I watched it.
The DVD has the movies' historians' view, along with Oliver Stones, so you get to see the movie and the history and how it was portrayed in a different light. Cinemaphotography...quite a creative adventure.
As a woman, I was left wondering what really DROVE Alexander, where his conquering spirit came from. Was it destiny? Was it his mother's stories of his divinity? Was it his father's genetics? What part did Haphaistion play in his life? What is love? What is a soul mate?
There were some incredibly good scenes in the movie and I think Colin Farrell should have been nominated for an Academy Award (maybe he was). Waiting for comments from the Peanut Gallery............
