Personally I didn't think it was overdone. Just a portrayal of what his life could have been like as it covered various issues he had from his early life. The DVD historians' overview claimed Alexander had many women in his lifetime and that he was introduced to prostitutes at a very early age. He had an older woman from a very early age for many years that he was very fond of. I thought it was interesting that his sexuality was explored without any bias or morality; as it must have been back then. And there were a few scenes where the dynamics were absolutely essential. (the wedding night, the enuch dancing, the conquest of Babylon, etc....)
Frankly I think his Asian wife poisoned Haiphastion when she found herself pregnant with Alexander's child. it could have been either her or Alexanders' enuch.
They both were jealous of Haiphastion....
I saw Braveheart a few years back....or is it a decade now?
Never saw Troy, thanks for the heads up on that. That will be my next popcorn night. If anyone else recommends a good epic, please suggest it.
