Unfortunately...
...our failure in both credibility and execution in Iraq hasn't served our capacity to motivate diplomatic solutions in Iran. And, in fact, we have served the current Iranian government well by giving them the perfect "enemy" with which to mobilize more political support from its citizens...the voices for moderation and reform have been drowned out by the radical islamists. The Iranian government can do this with impunity because they know we can't act militarily and they know our diplomatic influence is close to its lowest ebb in modern history. You can thank George Bush and his incompetent neocon cronies for this regrettable state of affairs.
