So you prefer wolves?

Sam the sheepdog in Chuck Jones's series of cartoons routinely bests Ralph the wolf, without ever attacking him first. He uses vigilance, guile, and appropriate retaliatory force. The sheep were safe with Sam. He never blew up a single meadow, and only attacked Ralph in his den when Ralph had abducted the sheep. Ralph, on the other hand...

If war is "something men do", you all need to find a new hobby. Conquering space would be a productive way to deal with all that excess testosterone. For people averse to flying, there's always the manual labor involved in rebuilding damaged or destroyed communities, a form of devastation that will always be with us regardless of who is mad at whom. Think of it as therapy projects from God.

If you think that women would wage wars of aggression (women will defend themselves, their families, and their property) if men weren't around, you forget that we spend far too much time keeping house and giving birth to blow up homes and children and call it "collateral damage".

Margaret Thatcher, you say? Well, there's always an exception. Ann Coulter? A girly-girl's mouth with a man's vocabulary: gossipy character assassination is a hobby we women would do well to abandon.

Violent behavior as the epitome of manhood? Somehow I don't think so. Consult Siddhartha. Or Jesus. Or Confucius. Or Francis of Assisi. Or Rabbi Hillel. Or Rumi. Or Chief Joseph. Or William Penn. Or John Paul II. Or Gandhi. Or Martin Luther King. Buncha pansies, yes?

The America of World War II is indeed still here. The world of World War II is not. We must find compassion for each other or perish. Unfortunately, that is not something one can teach in the laboratory of war, though many men and women have learned that lesson in war's aftermath.
