Have you thought about the effects of non-violence lately? Granted, there isn't much out there to see. Violence is much more exciting.
The practitioners of non-violence and the perveyors of compassion risk injury and death too. Have you heard cheering over the bodies of those killed in its pursuit by people who think war is the answer? I have.
I have seen a lot of demonizing of the left by the right as well. We are called cowards, thieves, traitors...
Also, one doesn't have to be on the left to advocate the exercise of compassion. You can hear it from social conservatives, too. The "Every Church a Peace Church" initiative is not being run by Communists. Unfortunately, they don't have their own TV or radio shows.
