re: And now, for something totally different...

I have been involved in the sciences since I was a young boy. In college I even worked at our observatory and, at the time, was close to being a pure atheist. I have taught evolution to Junior High School kids here in the Bible belt. I did and still do, believe in science. Science explains this physical universe and the laws that govern her. I find matter itself, fascinating. The way it is made mostly of space and is interchangeable with energy (E=Mc2. I think matter is made of energy that is made ‘solid’ by certain laws of physics, and this is related to gravity) and the way matter interacts to for different elements and such.

But I had an experience that showed me there is more to our existence than this physical matter we are made of and the laws that govern it. Up until then, my mind was bound by those physical laws. That experienced expanded my mind and made me see there is more to us than this physical universe we live in. It made me see that that things could exist, outside our universe, things that are perhaps made of matter bound by their own physical laws.

I see Heaven as a real place. Perhaps it is another universe out side our own. Perhaps it shares the same ‘space’ as ours does. It has its own matter, but this matter is made a little different from ours, and because of this, we can’t see it or detect it because we are bound by the laws that govern our matter not theirs. Say a ‘Heavenly’ photon of light passed through your eye. You would never see it because it will not interact with our matter. (I picture it sort of like the phased universe Geordie experienced in one of the Star Trek episodes.)

So when people say with such certainty that this physical universe is all there is, I say, don’t be so sure. Here could be much more out there that we can’t even comprehend.
