Great. More gas.

Understanding the difference between denotation and connotation is important to understanding definitions and how concepts are used. Unfortunately, that is complicated by the fact that these terms can be used in two different ways: grammatical and logical. Even worse, both uses are worth keeping in mind and both uses are relevant to project of logical, critical thinking.

You must have dazzled them at your thesis examination. Being careful about connotation does not mean avoiding value judgments entirely.

A few points:

First of all, you obviously don't know much about Aristotle.

Second, a great deal of mutually exclusive things in this world don't have a "synthesis." As one example, "alive" and "dead" don't have a compromise position. Neither do existence or non-existence. It is a capital mistake to assume that everything in existence has a "middle position."

Diversity of thought is a great goal. On most university campuses, "diversity" means people of different colors and backgrounds who all think exactly alike.
