I'm really scared about the way things are going. You should be even more so, the world will probably fall, or survive, this crisis during the lifetime of your kids.
Would it make you feel better to know that I've been hearing this same thing for thirty years? If you listened to Paul Ehrlich, we should all have been dead several years ago. Remember, this isn't our first "energy crisis," and, like last time, a lot of the people hyping this one have goals other than simply conserving energy.
I learned a lot about motivations some years back when "cold fusion" was still considered a real possibility. You might think that the idea of nearly free power with no pollution would have the Green types weeping in gratitude. Not quite. I do have a copy of the original L. A. Time article, but I can't find it online, and don't want to reproduce it verbatim.
Some people are seriously concerned about consumption and the environment. But I think that some just get a case of hives at seeing anyone who has a bigger car and nicer home than they do.
