The gov't will have to offer tax incentives along with new technology and slowly phase out the old gas burners. If there were a way to change out parts of a vehicles' engine to make it more fuel efficient, then we could all have ours modified.
Thing is, we've had this oil "crisis' since 1977, haven't we, and we've had plenty of time to have the American manufacturers build smaller, more fuel efficient cars, but nooooooooo.....the bigger the gas burner, the faster it went into production. And Bush Sr. and Dick Cheney were alive and well with their oil buddies since the late 70's.
Our foreign policy involved cementing relations with the Saudis to the point our current prez actually was caught hand-holding with their prez.
Canwe blame the Republicans for this oversight?
(Hey, business was good! All hail the American dollar!)
