Imperialist Plot
In an earlier post I mentioned an essay by Ariel Dorfmann, the Chilean socialist, who described the Disney characters as part of an insidious plot by "The Metropole" (Los Yanquis Imperialistas) to inculcate suitable values in their colonial populations. He addresses the toons' lack of a complete family life as part of this propaganda conspiracy, but I'll be damned if I can remember what it was he said. Maybe Tom can look it up for us so we can all read it, it's available in English translation and believe me, it's a real hoot.
