Reply to "John McCain"

[Here is what I'm replying to.]

I thought I was fairly clear in the post yours responds to... but here goes:

It is my fervent wish that the DNC abjure the "right wing" of their party, as personified by Lieberman. The center of the Democratic Party is noticeably farther to the left than he is, and probably is represented by such as John Edwards, or (as reluctant as I am to say so) Sen. Clinton (D, NY).

[For the record: I am extremely less than thrilled by the idea of a Hillary Clinton candidacy.]

Let me put it another way: The Republicans are so far to the right of the mainstream that their "left wing" -- Arlen Specter, for instance -- barely overlaps the Democratic "right wing". An ideal third "Centrist Party" ticket might consist of Lieberman and Specter, or Lieberman and (former NJ Gov./former EPA director Christie) Whitman, or other such. Would I vote for them? Depends on who the Dems come up with. I'm looking forward to Gov. Sibelius (D, KS) getting serious mention as a Veep, but I have no idea who ought to be the Presidential nominee, at the current perspective of two years out.

Makes no difference, in the long run. I will vote against the Reprehensible Party, no matter what. If I wished to live in a theocracy thinly disguised as a democracy, I would make aliyah. At least the religion would resemble my own...

If I believed for even a nanosecond that I were replying to the real "John McCain" (and I am not going to waste my time in a IP address comparison to learn who really posted), I would tell you: "Senator, we on the left respect you for your courage as a POW, and would rather resign ourselves to your election than to any of the other turds currently floating near the top of the GOP punchbowl... BUT you represent the center of the Republican Party, not its left wing, and in all good conscience we cannot vote for you, because you remain a turd."

Since I'm two beers and three shots of tequila to the wind, so to speak (it's Friday night, after all, gorram it), I will get silly on purpose: My ideal Democratic ticket consists of Mary Anne for Prez, and Robert Shepherd for VP. Find me two people with their kind of brains who are willing to run at all, who can write an agenda for this country like theirs, and deliver it in public speeches, and I'm voting for them.

That last point -- delivery via the spoken word -- is of paramount importance to me. I am so sick of, and embarrassed by, a President who can't form a sentence any better than gbaikie, that I am ready to puke all over Tom Brosz's shoes.

You wanted to know? There you have it, and now you know why it's in Flame.
