Had a good friend who believed in astrology. He'd charge people $50 for a "reading", made a big deal out of it. I tried to snicker off to the side, once in a while got caught. (Why is "got" spelled "g - o - t" and "caught" spelled
"c - a - u - g - h - t"?)
Anyway, he accused me of "contempt prior to investigation", a very vulnerable point for me. So, I told him I'd read any three books on the subject he suggested.
He loaned me three. Fortunately they were mostly charts, sort of like the log tables we used for trig.
About 10 days later I gave 'em back, and had to tell him that I still doubted. Lightheartedly, I hoped, I said it was now "contempt after investigation".
Got a sister who believes in it, though. As well as lots of other stuff. Blue-green algae, I don't know what-all. We don't talk much.
