"Outland"
The movie wasn't a commercial success, if I recall, but it remains one of my favorites. I watch it every few years, and it doesn't get old to experience the multiplex perceptions of watching Scotsman Connery play debonair Englishman 007 playing a Western sheriff on a deepspace mining colony. Despite the cognitive dissonances it works, and Connery downshifted smoothly into gritty workclass hero. You know he'll win in the end, but it has the power of the classic myth to make you feel the struggle is real and that his fate really is in the balance. I hope that one survives in the official canon of sci-fi classics.
