I am really tired of spending most of my responses either pointing out what the subject of my post is, which was the destruction of the term "torture," or responding for like the fifth time to the same blind talking points.
NOTHING we do or do not do to our prisoners is going to make one damn bit of difference in how American prisoners are treated, and hasn't for over fifty years. There is zero evidence for McCain's thesis on this. Zero. His "tit for tat" theory has no basis in reality. Is there any other way I need to word this, or is that enough?
You're welcome to do the damn research. Find a situation in the past thirty years where our soldiers were taken prisoner, and they were give Geneva Convention treatment. The food, the shelter, the protection from torture, the Red Cross visits, the letters out. The works. I'll wait.
Frankly, I suspect that other than the crap the media has thrown at you, you have no idea what Bush has proposed, i.e. exactly the rules McCain put forward some time back.
