The Iraq insurgency has been declared a Sunni/Shiite conflict with Al Qaeda thrown in to the mix. However, take a look at the real goals here.
Sunnis:
Want more power don't want to be subservient to Shiites. Miss old power base.
Shiites:
Like the idea of power. Don't want to see servitude to Sunni abuses.
So logically what do Sunnis get by blowing up police recruits and putting explosive devices in public areas and along American convoys? What would this gain them? Do they feel that if they can get the US to go home that they can take over again? Since they are massively outnumbered this would be sure folly. They would be slaughtered as the restraining hand of the US tries to engage in a restrained civilian-protecting manner.
The Sunnis would be exterminated ruthlessly with prejudice in a US-free Iraq. So why do Sunnis pursue such a reckless/suicidal course of action with the attacks?
There are obviously folks using the Sunni insurgency and dissension to get the US to leave.
The Shiites, likewise don't really want the US to leave either as they currently enjoy better firepower, resources and tactical superiority when engaging folks who have illustrated they are funded by something a lot bigger than Al Qaeda.
So what's the REAL deal here? What could possibly motivate Sunnis to suicide in such a manner?
Well, logically, they MUST NOT THINK it will be suicide. They must believe they will be the victors and propped up. But how? Numbers alone don't credit such a belief and in fact conjur visions of burning Sunni cities and villages as Shiite wholesale Sunni massacres would commence without the US presence.
So the MISSING PIECE is the part of the puzzle that tells the Sunnis they will win and have the resources to win and counter the numbers disparity.
Who would offer them support?
Someone who has something to gain if the US friendly govt is removed.
We look to Europe and we find the missing piece. Weapons grade explosives and devices, enough firepower to easily empower the Sunnis to decimate the existing government as they have been doing with their targeted assasinations. They are "going for the head" by removing the leaders and the police forces. They are following a very tactical battleplan.
They could not hope to achieve victory without the PROMISE of support when needed including, most importantly, political support
France, Germany, Russia and Belgium have purposely treated the existing government as illegitimate because they have not offered them any contracts or special oil deals. This allows them to shower 'legitimacy' on their 'chosen' government who will be as beholden to them as Saddam was - and turn on the multi-billion dollar oil spigots.
There is a reason our reserves are higher than ever - and Europe knows this. They will do anything to see that they are once again in the catbird seat in Iraq - as they are with Iran.
So we will NOT leave Iraq. Not now - maybe in 10 years after certain nations in Europe give it up.
To do so would sell out a genuine democracy to the European tyrant-makers.
Anyone who really understands what's going on in the world knows Europe is muscling its way into Africa using Muslim fanatics to pave the way and securing more cheap oil for Europe. Once the Saddam spigot was shut off - they lost billions of dollars in free oil per year. And they moved fast to other oil-rich dictators in Africa to make up the difference. They also managed to boot out Chevron and Petronas to be kicked out of Chad - by cozying up to the dictator-of-the-moment, Idriss Deby. As you can see the US was building classrooms etcetera for the people of Chad. Now those good days are over. As you can see, Africa is a battlezone for oil companies. The exploitation tactics of the Belgian congo never ended - and since Chad used to be a French holding they still think of it as 'theirs'.
TotalFinaElf is the French oil company and recently it has been nationalized - so the French government takes on the burden of TotalFinaElf's success and failure. Their 'hands on' approach to Africa and Iraq is well noted by those who...well those who know these things. ;-)
In Sudan the French already have a lock on the oil:
Moreover, the concession rights for oil development are virtually all sewn up by Asian companies and TotalFinaElf of France.
The French are using muslim extremists to keep folks in line and to upset any unfavorable government leanings (such as anything even resembling a pro-democracy movement)
The Iraqi insurgency has French national oil interests all over it.
So too sum up, you guys are swift, but a bit naive in thinking this is about differing Islamic sects.
These are all Chess moves made by Europe against the USA.
